Manually Installing your ProStores template
You may manually install your ProStores template to your ProStores store.
Download your files
- If you have not already done so, download the .zip file that contains the template files. You can access your downloads by going to My Account, clicking your invoice number, and clicking the link to download your files.
- Unzip the contents to a folder.
- There is also an additional fonts and colors info .txt file. Download this as well.
- Some templates may have come with additional files. You may choose to download these files as well.
Create a new store version in ProStores.
Before applying a ProStores-Enabled template to your online store, you should first create a new Store Version.
- Log into your ProStores account and click on the "My Store" link.
- Click on "Store Administration." A new window will open
- Click the plus sign next to "Store Version" to expand the menu options.
- Click "Store Versions."
- Click "Add Store Version."
- Type a name for the new template set. It should not have any spaces or special characters - for example, "MyNewDesign." Then click "Save."
Install the template to the new store version.
- Go to Store Design > Design Settings.
- In the Store Version dropdown, select your new Store Version name.
- Upload your logo if necessary...
The template may have come with a sample logo file in the template files download. You can use this file temporarily. Note that you may need to modify your logo graphic file to fit within the size parameters of the template, as not all logos and logo sizes will fit within the space provided.- In the Logo section, click "Change."
- Select "I will use a new store logo" and click the "Browse" button to upload your logo, then click Save.
- You don't have to do anything to the "Theme" section. If you want, you can change the Home Page, Product List, and Product Detail layouts.
- Change the fonts and colors...
- In the "Fonts and Colors" section, click "Change."
- Set the fonts and colors to the suggested fonts and colors in the .txt file.
- Click Save and Publish.
- Upload images...
- Now, click the plus sign next to "Support" and click "Upload Images."
- Scroll down to the "Store Design Images" section.
- Select your Store Version name, then click "Browse" and find the images.zip file that came with your template. Finally, change the file type to "Multi-Image Zip Archive" and click "Upload."
- Recommended: Modify header template file...
- In Windows Explorer, look for the header template file, which is usually called header.tpl and is inside the "templates" folder.
- Right-click and choose Open With..., then choose NotePad.
- You'll want to find this code:
<ss:link src="$templateSet.homePage"><ss:image source="$store.storeLogo" alt="Home" /></ss:link> - Change the "Home" text to your company name.
- Go to File > Save to save the file. You may close NotePad.
- Import and replace templates...
- Now go to Store Design > Page Template Manager. Make sure your Store Version is selected.
- Check the checkboxes next to Footer and Header. (If your template also comes with a storefront template, check the Home Page checkbox as well.)
- In the blue bar, look for the dropdown that says "More Actions." Choose "Import and Replace Page Template."
- Click the Browse buttons to select the header.tpl and footer.tpl (and storefront.tpl, if included) templates, then click "Import and Replace."
- To view your changes, select the page template checkboxes again and then click "Publish." Click Publish again on the next page to confirm.
- Click the Preview link (next to the Store Version dropdown) to preview your new store design.
Set the new store version as the Default for your store.
Setting the store version as the default for your store ensures that other people can view it when they visit your online store.
- Expand the "Store Design" menu item and then click "Store Versions."
- Click the "Edit Status" button.
- Find your Store Version that you want to set as the default. Check the "On" checkbox and the "Default" option next to your Store Version.
- Click "Save" to set the design as your default.
- View your live store to see the new design applied!
- If the design has not applied, you may need to deactivate other Store Versions. Look in your Store Version list for any Active designs. If there, uncheck the "on" option and Save again.
