Frequently Asked Questions

Preorder questions

Q: What version of ProStores do I need to purchase a template?
A: All templates require your store to be running ProStores version 8.2 or better, however, each template may support additional versions of ProStores so it is important to check the template page to determine the exact version supported. (To find out your store version, log into your ProStores administrative area, go to Store Administration, and look at the footer of any page for the ProStores copyright information. The version number is in the footer.)

Q: Can I apply templates that I purchase to any of the four ProStores store tiers (Express, Business, Advanced or Enterprise)?
A: To purchase templates and apply them to your store (either manually or through the automated process) requires the use of the Business, Advanced or Enterprise store tiers. The Express store tier is not supported at this time.

Q: Does purchasing a template mean that I can set up a store right away?
A: Purchasing a template means that you have purchased a design. This does not include the purchase and setup of an actual ProStores storefront. To get started with creating a ProStores storefront, please go to ProStores.com.

If you already have a ProStores storefront, then you can immediately apply the template design to your store after purchase.

Q: What do I get when I purchase a template?
A: Once your order is approved, you have access to the downloadable files that allow you to apply a new design to your ProStores storefront. These include:

  • page template files for the header, footer, and possibly other pages
  • images and stylesheet related to the design
  • sample logo graphic that fits with the design (included in most products)
  • information file about setting ProStores fonts and colors
  • other optional files that the template designer may have chosen to include, such as source files or additional instructional files

You will also have access to our automated template installation process which helps you to automatically apply the template design to your ProStores storefront.

Q: Do I need any technical skills to use the template?
A: With our automated template installation process or by using our easy-to-follow manual installation instructions, you will be guided step-by-step in how to apply the template design to your store. You do not need any coding experience unless you wish to significantly modify the template design.

We do recommend that you or someone else is able to use an image editor to create an appropriate web graphic file for your logo.

Questions after purchase

Q: How can I view the status of my order?
A: Go to the Customer Service, Account Information page. This page lists all your orders. Click the date of the order whose status you wish to view.

Q: How do I install my template?
A: You can either install your template manually or use our automated template installation process. To access the automated installation process, go to My Account, click on the invoice number, and click the link to begin the installation process.

Q: How long does it take to install the template?
A: If you use our automated installation process, it only takes a few minutes to go through the installation steps. Manual installation can be done in as little as ten minutes by following our instructions.

Q: I installed my template but it doesn't show up on my store. What's wrong?
A: If you used our automated installation process, you most likely did not check the checkbox that sets the new store version as your "default design", which means that it will not display on your live store. You can instead preview your new store design, and when you're ready, set the design as your default so that anyone who visits your store can see the new design.

If you have already set the store as your default design, it's possible that other "active" store versions are conflicting with the new store version. Go to Store Design > Store Versions and click the "Edit Status" button, then uncheck any other active store versions and apply the new settings.

Q: How come the logo doesn't show up when I preview the template?
A: If you used our automated installation, the sample logo file is uploaded but is not set to active. Learn how to active the sample logo to view it, or learn about adding your own logo to the design.
